Wheeler’s Group are growing and to support that growth we’re hiring a part time Health & Safety Coordinator to work with us from our Westbury office. This is a key role within our team, acting as a lynch pin to ensure that all Health & Safety related processes, policies and support are in place and working for every employee in the business, as well as our sub-contractors and partners that we engage with out on site.
Working 3 days a week, we are offering a pro-rated salary of up to £40k per annum, pension, and 25 days holiday (also pro-rated) per year (plus Bank Holidays). You’ll be a self-starter and comfortable working with a high level of autonomy, as the sole internal Health & Safety resource, to support Contract Managers and our Engineers in the day-to-day operations at Wheeler’s.
If you love to be kept on your toes with plenty of variety, you’re just who we’re looking for. Your time will be spent across a variety of Health & Safety related tasks, such as site inspections, inducting new starters, delivering toolbox talks, van & equipment audits, setting and reporting relevant Health & Safety KPI’s. You will also keep abreast of changes in legislation to make sure Wheeler’s is up to date and compliant.
Alongside this you will have a variety of administrative responsibilities including overseeing our Health & Safety training requirements, the management of and preparation of relevant data such as RIDDOR and COSHH, and the preparation of reports to support a cross section of functional areas within the business.
You’ll be the type of person who is confident in running accident investigations, liaising with our HR department to help keep our colleagues safe on site, and managing an end-to-end Health & Safety audit process. You will also have an input into job descriptions and job adverts for the roles we need to fill within our business where a Health & Safety capability is required. This role will also be tasked with looking after the company’s Supplier Approval System, it’s Health & Safety Accreditations and completing Customer Pre-qualification Questionnaires.
So, who are we looking for? You’ll be someone who has worked in a similar role previously, as previous experience is essential for this role. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, be able to use your own initiative, and be able to follow through on implementing and delivering processes. You’re in your comfort zone when reviewing current practices and implementing new ways of working – and are easily able to influence others to get on board with your ideas, systems and processes.
Superb communication skills are also essential within this role, as we’ll be looking to you to deliver important and sometimes challenging conversations across the business, as well as building and developing relationships with senior management and the wider team.
As a growing business, from time to time we may also ask for a bit of support in more generalist business administration. You don’t have to be a gymnast, but we will need you to have some flexibility in a willingness to support the wider business when required.
